3J Ranch is a hidden haven on twenty acres, just fifteen minutes away from Bryce Canyon's shuttle parking. It is central to all the great trails, byways, and state and national parks. The off-grid home sits on twenty acres and operates on solar and wind, with a battery backup. Our well water (from 400 feet down) tastes great! You do have connection to the outside world by cell phone and internet (but no one back home at the office needs to know that). The internet works great for browsing, but be aware before you book that there is no gaming or streaming. At night, relax and listen to the owls hoot in the nearby trees. If you like, bring your mountain bikes and power toys; the driveway literally turns into forest backroads. If you are here for the fishing, Pine Lake is just down the road. PLEASE NOTE: the property pin on the map makes this home look far from the Park. It is not far. It is twelve miles north of the park shuttle, and worth the few extra minutes drive. DIRECTIONS: As you drive out of our Guest House driveway, follow our dirt road back until it intersects with the next dirt road (by the large rock sign). This is the intersection of “Under the Rim” road and “Bryce Way” road. Turn right at this intersection following this dirt road about 2 miles all the way until it dead-ends at the trailhead. When you arrive at the Tropic Trailhead, you will see a parking area when the road ends in a small cul-de-sac. At the national park border fence, is a permanent and safe step-ladder providing easy access over the fence to the Tropic Trail. THE HIKE: This hike, up into the national park, is about 2.6 miles long. At first, you will traverse a lowland conifer forest section, then arrive at the breathtaking hoodoo rock structures about 2/3 of the way up the trail! The Tropic Trail is one of the “best kept secrets” at Bryce Canyon National Park! This trail will lead you to the famous national park trails: Peekaboo Loop, and Queen’s Garden/Navajo Loop considered by many to be the most beautiful 3-mile hike in the world!

Cannonville is located under the eastern escarpment of Bryce Canyon National Park. It is off of Scenic Byway 12, just 12 miles past Bryce Canyon. Our area is surrounded by red rock outcroppings. Kodachrome State Park is located 10 miles down our main road in town. The Bunk House includes two queen beds and a bunkbed in about 900 square feet. We include a Pack n Play for babies. The large bathroom includes tub and shower and changing area. The bathroom/dressing room is supplied with plush towels, and other amenities. The beds are comfortable with fresh pressed linens upon your arrival. There is a small kitchenette with dishes, utensils, pots and pans and a sink. The toaster/oven is convenient. A small refrigerator (no freezer) includes water and basic condiments. Fresh baked Chocolate Chip Cookies welcome guests to our Country Bunkhouse. There is an available grill if needed outside. (request before arriving) The Country Bunkhouse includes a 55 inch Television screen for TV programs and DVD's, Blue Ray/games as well as a 45” TV in the second bedroom. Several DVD's (family oriented) are included as well as board games/puzzles and children's toys. The Country Bunkhouse has large ceiling fans and a brand new Air Conditioning system. Forced air heating is very efficient. We don't have many extremely hot days and our nights are cool and beautiful. Sleeping with open windows is safe here. However, winter is cold and often snowy. Our night sky is stunning, if you have time to sit on the swing outside to enjoy it. Many park visitors make the trip over to Grosvenor Arch, a magnificent double arch located 10 miles southeast of the park in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This campsite is equipped with a pre-set sturdy canvas tent on it's own wooden deck platform. The tent is furnished with a queen-size memory foam mattress, side tables, and a picnic table, fire pit with a grill, a solar shower, and portable camp loo are also provided, and campers are able to use the park's restroom facilities as well. There is an additional pop up tent provided for extra guests, but you will have to bring your own air mattresses/sleeping pads for this tent. Even if the road is plowed, it's likely that a 4wd will be needed to get to the house, especially at night. A 4wd is highly recommended during this time.
